The 5 Best Allowance and Budgeting Apps for Kids
Tired of screen time being "me time" for the kids while you fantasize about it being a tad more educational?
How about we convert those devices into a financial literacy playground?
FamZoo
FamZoo is the Swiss Army knife of allowance apps—chores, budgets, you name it. Payments are easily funneled into spend, save, and give accounts.
Plus, it has an interest feature to introduce the magic of compound growth!
Subscription costs range from $2.50 to $4.33 per month.
Mom Tip: Use FamZoo's interest feature to simulate a real-world bank account, and have a monthly "balance review" with your kids to show them how their savings are growing. They’ll be excited to see their money work for them!
RoosterMoney
No subscription? No problem.
RoosterMoney gives you the basics for free, and for the littles, there's a "star currency" to make saving fun.
Want to invest a bit? For $18.99 per year, you get chore tracking and more.
Step
For the teen in your life, Step offers a free bank account with zero fees, and it comes with a Visa card.
It’s a cool way to give them a taste of adulting while keeping an eye on how they're doing.
Mom Tip: Utilize the parental oversight feature to co-review monthly statements with your teen. Use this as a teaching moment to discuss good spending habits and the importance of saving.
Current
Current not only gives you scheduled allowance features but also keeps you updated with instant spending notifications.
You can even limit where they can spend their money.
Mom Tip: Use the spending limit feature to teach budgeting. Allocate specific amounts for categories like “Entertainment” or “Snacks” to mimic how adults manage funds.
Greenlight
Greenlight is your all-in-one financial teaching tool, featuring separate accounts for spending, saving, and giving.
Teens can even use Apple Pay and Google Pay. Interested in teaching investing? They've got that too.
Wrapping It Up
Let’s turn those iPads into financial advisors, shall we?
Screen time doesn't have to be a parent's foe if we can make it a teaching tool.
Cheers, mamas! 🥂

Featured Response 🙂
“At least one weekend morning, my son and I make a big breakfast together. We use a kitchen stand so he’s at counter height and he gets his own section and utensils to work with. I premeasure ingredients so he can pour them and he loves to wash the dishes for clean up. I know it will be a mess and more work for me, but he loves it! He also eats everything he makes! Scrambled eggs and pancakes are our favorites.”

Banana-PB Roll-Ups: Snack Win! 🍌🥜
Source: weelicious
You know how life gets crazy and suddenly, it’s 3 pm, and your kids are about to turn into tiny hangry monsters?
Don’t stress, because I've got your back with this no-fuss, "kids-are-finally-quiet" snack. 🤫
Ingredients 📝
2 bananas, peeled
1/4 cup peanut butter, divided (or almond or sunflower butter)
2 tortillas
Instructions 👩🍳
Lay a tortilla flat and spread 2 tbsp of peanut butter to coat it evenly.
Place a peeled banana near the edge of your tortilla.
Roll that bad boy up!
Cut into 1/2 inch rounds and serve 'em up.
Note: If your tortilla is stiff, pop it in the microwave between two moist paper towels for 15-20 seconds. Voilà, problem solved!
Note 📌
This recipe is versatile! Swap out the peanut butter for almond or sunflower butter if you like.
You can also switch up the tortillas. Go for whole wheat, white, or even one with seeds. Just make sure it's flexible, not like your toddler’s willingness to put on shoes. 🤣
Alright, mamas, there you have it!
A snack so easy, you can even prepare it with one eye on the kids and the other on your ever-growing laundry pile.
