  • 3 medium bananas

  • 3/4 cup brown sugar

  • 1/2 cup unsweetened applesauce

  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

  • 1 large egg

  • 1 cup white whole wheat flour

  • 1/2 cup cocoa powder, unsweetened

  • 1 teaspoon baking soda

  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

  • 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips

  • 1/8 cup mini chocolate chips (for topping)

👩‍🍳 Instructions

  1. In a mixer, mash the bananas and brown sugar until well combined.

  2. Add applesauce, vanilla, and egg, mixing thoroughly.

  3. In a separate bowl, mix the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.

  4. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture until incorporated.

  5. Fold in the semisweet chocolate chips.

  6. Pour the batter into a greased 8x8-inch baking dish and sprinkle with mini chocolate chips.

  7. Bake at 350°F for 25-35 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.

  8. Let it cool a bit before indulging.
