“I have found that my son cannot process his emotions or feelings during a tantrum until he calms down, and he does the quickest when he is left alone to work out the biggest screams. I always tell him I am here if he needs me, but that I can’t help him process until he’s calm enough to talk and listen. I stay in the same room to help him stay safe and to give hugs as needed, but we can’t find solutions until he is calm.”
