10 Mommy Planning Tips

  1. Involve Everyone in the Planning: To make the vacation unforgettable, involve your kids in the planning process. Let them choose some activities or a specific place they want to visit. This gives them something to look forward to and helps them feel involved in creating the family adventure.

  2. Travel Kits for the Little Ones: Keep the children entertained during the journey with a travel kit. Include their favorite books, toys, coloring materials, or games. Don’t forget the snacks!

  3. Scheduled Downtime: Plan for breaks between activities. Kids can quickly become overwhelmed and tired, so schedule downtime for naps, relaxation, or free play.

  4. Accommodation with Amenities: Look for accommodations with family-friendly amenities. This could mean a pool for afternoon swims, a playground, or even a kitchenette for preparing familiar meals.

  5. Local Experiences: Incorporate local experiences into your travel plans. This could be a traditional music performance, a cooking class, or a local festival. It's a fun way to learn about the culture and create unique memories.

  6. Carry Essential Meds: Always have a basic first aid kit and necessary medications handy. You never know when you might need them.

  7. Remember the Keepsakes: Encourage your children to keep a travel journal or create a scrapbook of their experiences. Collect postcards, stickers, or other small souvenirs to remember each place you visit.

  8. Safety Measures: Teach your kids about safety measures. Make sure they know your phone number, the name of your hotel, and other important details.

  9. Pack Smart: If you’re traveling with little ones, pack clothes that are easy to layer, and remember to pack extras. Also, consider packing in one suitcase for the whole family to keep things more organized.

  10. Plan Surprises: Plan a surprise or two during the vacation. This could be a surprise ice cream stop or an unexpected visit to a fun park. These unexpected moments often turn into cherished memories.

Blueberry Baked Oatmeal 🥣🫐

yummytoddlerfood

Today, we're ditching the hustle of morning stovetop stirring for a breakfast recipe that'll have your little ones beaming.

It's all about a make-ahead, belly-filling, family-friendly delight - Blueberry Baked Oatmeal! 🎉

Ingredients📝

  • 1 teaspoon coconut oil

  • 2 medium eggs

  • 5 ounces canned coconut milk

  • ⅓ cup honey (warmed slightly)

  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

  • 2 cups water

  • 1 cup steel-cut oats

  • ¼ cup shredded unsweetened coconut

  • ¼ teaspoon salt

  • 1 cup blueberries

Coconut not your thing? No worries, butter can stand in for the oil, regular milk can replace coconut milk, and simply add more oats instead of shredded coconut. Likewise, feel free to use rolled oats instead of steel-cut ones.

Instructions👩‍🍳

The Night Before:

  1. Generously grease a 3-quart casserole or 9-inch square baking dish with coconut oil.

  2. Whisk together the eggs, coconut milk, honey, and vanilla until smooth. Stir in the 2 cups of water, steel-cut oats, and salt.

  3. Pour this mix into your dish, gently press in those blueberries on top, and cover up. Pop it in the fridge overnight for some sweet dreams.

In the Morning:

4. Preheat your oven to 350°F. Uncover the oatmeal and bake for 35—40 minutes or until it's set and calling your name in the middle.

  1. Drizzle with some extra honey, sprinkle with coconut, and serve hot. Maybe add a little extra milk if you're feeling it!

Note📌

  • The leftovers (if any!) are great for up to 5 days in the fridge.

  • Reheat them as needed or just enjoy them cold. Honey can be swapped out for maple syrup if you prefer.

  • Fresh or frozen blueberries both work like a charm.

  • You can use canned coconut milk for an extra punch of flavor, or swap in regular milk or another non-dairy milk if that's more your jam.

So there you have it, mamas!
