Homemade Banana Chips
superhealthykids.com
Have a bunch of ripe bananas on your counter and a bit of free time? Perfect!
Here's a recipe that transforms those humble bananas into a snack your kiddos will go bananas for 😉
These homemade banana chips are not just easy to make but a way healthier option than the store-bought ones.
Ingredients
5 large bananas (ripe but firm)
3 tablespoons lemon juice
4 cups water
superhealthykids.com
Instructions
First, slice your bananas as thin as you can manage, aiming for less than 1/4 inch thick. Hint: A mandolin could be your best buddy here.
Cover these banana slices with water, splash in the lemon juice, and give them a gentle stir. Let them relax there for a couple of minutes.
Gently spoon the banana slices out of the bowl and give them a nice blot on a paper towel to absorb excess water.
Arrange the banana slices on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, making sure they don't overlap.
Set your oven to the lowest temperature possible, around 170 degrees F. Bake the slices for about 5 hours. Give them a flip after 5 hours, so both sides get crispy.
Leave the tray back in the oven (turned off) overnight. By morning, you'll wake up to super crispy, delightful banana chips!

Storage Tips When completely cooled, store these homemade banana chips in an airtight container, away from moisture.
In a cool, dry place, they can stay good for about 3-4 weeks.
If you live in a more humid environment, store them in the freezer and they'll stay crisp and fresh for about 3 months.
Wrap-up
So there you go, an incredibly simple, scrumptiously crunchy, and health-friendly snack!
So, grab that apron and let's create some crispy, crunchy, banana fun!
