Bedtime Bites: Foods to Help Kids Sleep
Dull-yet-Delicious
Our first rule of thumb? Keep it boring and nutrient-rich!
But don't worry, "boring" doesn't mean tasteless—it's all about offering satisfying snacks that won't spark a full-blown late-night food festival.
A snack that's delicious yet dull enough to not encourage encores.
Hunger-busting, Snooze-inducing Snacks
Next, we dive into a list of 11 handpicked foods that pack a punch of protein, melatonin, and serotonin—critical ingredients for sleep and satiety.
Pistachios - Rich in protein, vitamin B6, and magnesium.
Nut Butter - Packed with protein.
Oatmeal - A rich source of melatonin.
Cherries - A natural source of melatonin.
Banana - The potassium in bananas serves as a muscle relaxant.
Pumpkin Seeds - Boost serotonin levels.
Eggs - Can make you sleepy due to tryptophan.
Kiwi - Full of vitamin C and E, serotonin, and folate to help you snooze.
Edamame - Rich in isoflavones which increase serotonin levels.
Strawberries - The B6 can put melatonin production into high gear.
Chamomile Tea - You can even put a little cool tea in your baby's bottle.
These munchies will be your secret weapon against those bedtime hunger pangs.
Two Choices, No Negotiations
Lastly, we're getting strategic about snack offerings.
Two choices, small portions, no negotiations.
Limiting options and quantities ensures your kids are actually eating for sustenance, not stalling for time or indulging in midnight feasts.
All said and done, remember that bedtime snacks are a tool, not a nightly tradition.
Here's to more peaceful evenings and sweet dreams!

Mom Hack
Toddlers, right?
One minute they're obsessed with a toy, the next, they've left it in the dust.
Enter the magic of toy rotation!
Think three treasure chests of toys, sprinkled across your home's levels or rooms. They're a mixed bag of goodies - cars, dolls, musical wonders, you name it.
Every few weeks, swap them out and watch their joy at rediscovering forgotten toys.
Every once in a while my little one will ask for a certain toy, so we’ll pull it out, but often times they just play with what’s around them!

1 tbsp honey
1 tsp fresh lemon juice

Puree & Mix: Rinse and hull your strawberries, pop them in a food processor or blender (see here), and blend till you've got a smooth puree. Then, mix in that sweet honey and tangy lemon juice.

Tips & Tricks
If you're not a fan of seeds, just push your puree through a fine mesh sieve.
Remember to store your strawberry butter in an airtight container to keep it fresh. It'll last 2-3 weeks in your fridge.
A delicious and fun way to bring the joy of your garden's strawberries to the breakfast table.
It's quick, it's easy, and trust me, your little ones (and maybe you too) might just end up licking their plates clean!
Enjoy, mamas!
