Solving the Toddler Sleep Puzzle: A Handy Guide
Moms, I’ve got your back with this helpful guide to toddler sleep!
Prepare for a practical deep dive into the world of naps, bedtimes, and dreamy nights.
How Much Sleep Your Toddler Needs
Deciphering how much sleep your toddler requires can be tricky.
But here's a simple guideline:
Kids aged between 1 and 2 generally need more than 12 hours of sleep in a day.
By their third birthday, this drops to around 11 hours.
Keep in mind, as your toddler grows, their sleep patterns will change.
For example, that cherished morning nap might vanish after their first birthday, leaving only the afternoon nap and nighttime sleep.
Crafting a Toddler Sleep Schedule that Works
Creating a regular sleep routine for your toddler can feel like a Herculean task, but with some patience, it can be done.
Here's a quick rundown of what an ideal day might look like:
Wake Up: Aim for a regular wake-up time. Many toddlers wake up between 6-7 a.m.
Morning Nap: If your toddler is still taking a morning nap, aim for around 9:30 a.m.
Afternoon Nap: Schedule another nap after lunch, ideally in the early afternoon, around 1:30 or 2 p.m.
Bedtime: Aim to put your toddler to bed between 6-8 p.m.
Remember, this is just a guide. Each child is different, so be ready to adjust as needed.
Common Toddler Sleep Questions
Toddler sleep can bring up a host of questions. Here are some straightforward answers to common queries:
Where should a toddler nap? Having a specific spot for sleep helps create a routine. Try to have your toddler nap in their bed instead of random places like strollers or couches.
Can my toddler have a blanket or stuffed animal? Yes, a favorite blanket or toy can help your child sleep better. Just keep an eye out for signs of dependency.
What if my toddler is scared of the dark? This fear can be very real for older toddlers. Using a nightlight or leaving the door ajar with the hallway light on can help.
When should I move my toddler to a bigger bed? The transition usually happens when your child is around 2 or 3 years old. Start preparing your toddler with discussions and storybooks about kids moving to big beds.
Is co-sleeping okay? Co-sleeping with a toddler has its pros and cons. Consider your child's sleep needs, your own sleep quality, and your partner's comfort.
Takeaway
Navigating the ins and outs of toddler sleep might feel overwhelming at times.
But don't worry, you're not alone.
Be flexible, be patient, and remember, it's okay to find humor in the chaos.
Tomorrow is another day, and another chance to find that perfect sleep routine!

Instructions:
Step 1: Warm up that oven of yours to 375 degrees.
Step 2: Mix together the flour, baking powder, and kosher salt in a bowl. In another bowl, whisk up that egg and stir in milk, oil, honey, vanilla, and zesty lemon.
Step 3: Fire up the standing mixer (or go old school with a hand mixer) and gently mix together the dry and wet ingredients. Just remember, we're making muffins, not muscles - don't overmix!
Step 4: Now, for the pièce de résistance - the strawberries! Gently fold them into the batter.
Step 5: Scoop the batter into your muffin tins (make sure they're lined or greased), filling up to 2/3 full.
Step 6: Into the oven they go! Bake for 20 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean. Then cool and serve.
Mini Muffin Tip: If you're in a mini mood, this recipe will make about 36 mini muffins. Just bake for 18 minutes or until your trusty toothpick comes out clean.
